Nothing says Christmastime like homemade cookies, especially ones from a treasured family recipe handed down through the generations. But if your childhood cookies came out of a bag, or you just don't have any baking memories, I'm opening up my collection of vintage cookbooks to bring you some tasty treats from the past.

These cookies come from an early '50s Better Homes and Gardens cookbook binder, and can be made simply or in fancy patterns, as shown. For a festive treat, add a few drops of red or green food coloring to the pale half of the dough. These make me think of something Sebastian would serve up for Ciel's afternoon tea, along with a nice cup of milky Darjeeling.
